Participant Terms & Conditions:

By participating in a Gowaan coaching & session, you confirm the following:

  1. Personal Responsibility & Health

    I understand that I am responsible for monitoring myself throughout the session. If I experience any unusual symptoms or discomfort, I will stop participating and notify the instructor immediately.
    If medical clearance is required prior to taking part, I agree to contact my GP and obtain written permission to be shared with the instructor if necessary.

  2. Acceptance of Risk

    I fully acknowledge that I am riding and participating at my own risk and accept full responsibility for any accidents or injuries that may occur.
    I understand that cycling and mountain biking are inherently dangerous sports, involving off-road riding on unpredictable terrain, where falls and crashes can happen.

  3. Session Participation

    I will not participate in any element of the session if I feel unsafe or incapable.
    It is my responsibility to communicate with the instructor if I am uncomfortable or unable to complete a section of the course.
    The instructor will offer guidance on how to safely approach any challenging features, but I understand that I will never be forced to ride anything I do not wish to.
    The instructor also reserves the right to restrict me from attempting certain features if they believe it would be unsafe.

  4. Conduct


I agree to behave in a respectful and appropriate manner throughout the session.
I understand that failure to do so may result in my removal from the activity.

5. Bike Condition

I confirm that the bike I will be using is in full working condition – including two working brakes, well-maintained tyres, and overall good mechanical condition.
If I am renting a bike from Gowaan, I understand that while the bike is regularly checked and maintained, I am riding it at my own risk and should inspect it myself before use.
I will notify the coaches of any concerns before the session begins.


6. Protective Equipment

A helmet is compulsory.
Gloves, knee pads, elbow pads, a back protector, shin pads, and eye protection are all strongly recommended.
Failure to arrive with compulsory items will not result in a refund or a reschedule.
If I borrow a helmet from Gowaan, I do so at my own risk and am encouraged to inspect it before use. (Helmets are inspected by coaches between sessions.)


7. Nutrition & Hydration

I am responsible for my own food and water needs.
I will bring enough water and snacks to sustain me for the duration of the session and will take breaks to refuel when necessary, informing an instructor when doing so.
